SUMMARY:Weekday Wander #5 - The Waffle Wander Tour
DESCRIPTION:PCA-CHS 2026 Tour & Rally Event No. 8 – Wednesday\, June 10th \nClick Here to Register\nMy intent with the Weekday Wander tours is to allow us to explore routes and destinations that are not always possible to do with a regular tour of 40 or so cars. This trip to Waffle House epitomizes the concept. We will drive across the better roads of Carroll\, Baltimore\, and Harford counties and end at the Waffle House where we can enjoy “Southern Hibachi.” \nWhy Waffle House? I have been a long-term fan of Waffle House from years of road trips\, as it became a special treat. The Weekday Wander format is the perfect way to enjoy a terrific drive and an All Star Special. Besides\, everyone needs to experience the restaurant FEMA uses to evaluate exactly how bad a disaster is\, and where the employees are world-renowned for their toughness. \nWe look forward to seeing you on this tour but register soon\, as there is a very limited capacity for this tour. \nWHEN and WHERE \n\nWhen: Wednesday\, June 10th\, at 9:30 am\nAssembly Point: The Westminster\, MD\, address will be sent to confirmed registrants by June 9th.\nParticipant’s Meeting: 9:45 am\nDeparture: First cars off approximately 10:00 am.\nDestination: Waffle House\, 1500 Conowingo Rd\, Bel Air\, MD 21014\nDistance: Approximately 55 miles\nETA: Approximately 90 minutes\n\n PARTICIPATION \nBy signing up for and joining any of our driving events\, registrants acknowledge and assume all the risks in and full responsibility for their participation. SUMMARY:Werks Reunion Monterey
DESCRIPTION:Click HERE for more details\nPorsche Club of America (PCA) welcomes all Porsche clubs\, owners\, and enthusiasts to the Twelfth Annual Werks Reunion Amelia Island on August 14\, 2026\, the Friday preceding the Monterey Concours d’Elegance. We invite you to come to The Monterey Pines Golf Course to see a breathtaking array of Porsches\, from rare to current models and everything in between! \nThis year\, we will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the introduction of the 924 in 1976\, as well as the series of transaxle Porsches. The 924 was both innovative\, with the transaxle layout achieving balanced handling\, and crowd-pleasing\, as the entry-level model made the Porsche brand more accessible to a broader audience. \nThe Porsche 924 wasn’t even supposed to be a Porsche. Initially developed for Volkswagen under the project name EA 425\, Volkswagen scrapped the plan\, and Porsche acquired it as an entry-level replacement for the 914 and 912E. \nWhen it hit the U.S.\, the 924 shocked Porsche purists; it was the brand’s first front-engine\, water-cooled transaxle car\, and American road testers weren’t kind. However\, Porsche continued to refine the formula\, and over 152\,000 were produced. \nBy the late ’70s\, reviews softened\, praising its sharp looks\, comfy seats\, and road-hugging feel. A Turbo arrived in ’79\, but the upcoming 944 stole the spotlight\, leaving unsold 924s to linger on lots. The model bowed out in the U.S. in 1982\, only to return as the 924 S in 1987 with a Porsche-built 2.5L and a livelier 147 hp. \nToday\, finding a clean 924 isn’t easy—early cars especially. But those who know\, know: the OG 924 may be slower and noisier\, yet it’s simpler\, easier to maintain\, and a true piece of Porsche history. \nYou are not required to be a PCA member to participate in this celebration of Porsche automobiles; however\, you must register to Corral or be Judged. Display your cherished car in model-specific Porsche Corrals\, or enter the Porsche Judged Field and compete to win in more than 20 prize categories. \nThe Porsche Club of America created Werks Reunion as an event to celebrate both the Porsche marque and the camaraderie of being an enthusiast. This is not a contest of who has removed dust from the deepest crevices in their Porsche\, but rather a judged show that rewards a Porsche that has been lovingly maintained and presents itself well on the field. Our judges do not use Porsche Parade Concours score sheets; instead\, they rank the cars based on the specific attributes discussed before judging. For those who do not wish to have their cars judged\, you may display in the model-specific corrals or\, if the organizers see fit\, on the judged field itself. There are no score sheets returned or protest committees. This is a casual gathering of Porsche enthusiasts focused on having fun rather than solely on competition.
