DESCRIPTION:  \nAutocross consists of navigating your car faster than your competition through a course delineated by soft orange traffic cones which will not damage your car. Events are run at speeds typically between 25-70 MPH\, usually in 2nd gear. Autocross is a performance driving event emphasizing your car’s handling and is an exciting way to experience driving your car at its limit. You not only learn how to handle your car at speeds that you drive daily\, but you also: \n\nGain confidence in your driving ability\nLearn the limits of your car’s brakes\nLearn correct seating\, hand\, and feet positions for optimum car control\nLearn the limits of your car’s handling\n\nNote\, too\, that Autocross is a social gathering of new and old friends and an opportunity to have lots of adrenaline-pumping fun! \nEntry Details (all makes and models are welcome) \n\nDate: Sunday May 23\, 2026\nEntry Fee:\n\nPCA Member Pre-registration Entry fee: $60\nNon-PCA Member Pre-registration Entry fee: $70\nFor those who are interested in autocross\, but unsure if they want to try it (or just plain curious)\, we offer a “Taste of Autocross.” For $5\, you will have the opportunity to ride with our instructors for several runs and experience the thrill!\n\n\nMSR Registration will be capped at 80 drivers. If the cap is met after registration\, you will be waitlisted and may be eligible to attend if entries become available.\nThere are no walk-ups available for this event.\nPayment information will be taken on-line at registration\, but not charged until 2-weeks before the race.\n\nVenue: \n\nRipken Stadium\, Aberdeen\, MD:\n\nRipken Stadium\n\n\n\nEvent Schedule: This is a rough schedule for the day of the event: \n0700: The venue opens to participants\n0730: Registration / Check-In opens\n0730: Tech opens\n0830: Course opens for walking\n0830: Registration / Tech closes\n0830 – 0850: Guided course walk\n0900 – 0915: Driver meeting\n0930: First car off\n1530 (approx): Event complete \nClass Structure: \nPrior to registering\, please review the details below to help you finish the registration process. \n\nSCCA classes for non-Porsches: Rules and classes can be found here:\n\nVia link to the rule book at the SCCA website: 2026 SCCA SOLO Rules (Jan Edition). (Car classes begin on p. 188 ff of the Jan edition.)\n\nDuring registration\, you will first select “Non-Porsche (using SCCA classing)” as your Class before selecting your specific 2025 SCCA class in the “Modifier” field.\n\n\nRules for CHS PCA AX events can be found here: Chesapeake PCA Autocross Rules\n\n\nPorsche classes:\n\nThere are four categories – Showroom stock (S)\, Production (P)\, Improved (I)\, and Modified (M)\nClassing information for Porsches is contained in the CHS PCA AX rules found on the Club website: Chesapeake PCA Autocross Rules.\n\n\n\nNoise Restrictions: \nDue to the proximity of condos to the racing area\, the Chesapeake PCA will monitor and deal with the noise level of cars in accordance with the SCCA sound measurement procedure found in the 2026 SCCA SOLO Rules (Jan Edition) on p. 326 ff. As a member of the PCA Chesapeake Region\, we have all kinds of events to help you enjoy the club and your Porsche.  As a new or recently new member\, it would be great if you could join us at our upcoming New Member Meeting on Saturday\, May 23rd. \nYou’ll get a chance to meet the officers and hear from and talk to Chesapeake’s many different Event Chairs and find out about all the activities that are being planned for the year. You’ll also get a swag bag full of Chesapeake goodies and participate in the raffles for additional door prizes.
