About Autocross (AKA AX)

Autocross events are low-to-medium-speed races against the clock that offer a fun, affordable, and safe way to hone your driving skills and explore your car’s handling. Each run teaches you more about your car’s acceleration, braking, and cornering characteristics so that you’re soon enjoying the challenge of cutting seconds (and tenths) off your time. More experienced drivers find that autocross is a great way to fine-tune their precision-handling abilities and race their cars at modest cost and time commitment. Autocross is a test of driver skill and handling, not just horsepower!

Below is an onboard video of an autocross lap with one of our Chesapeake members.

When drivers are not running in a heat they perform important tasks that support the event, such as flagging the course and reporting downed cones. In fact, working the course is another great way to learn as you watch your fellow competitors drive. PCA Chesapeake also puts a strong emphasis on camaraderie, with participants enjoying their time together with other enthusiasts to talk about their cars and driving technique.

Autocross is available to both PCA Members and non-members and PCA Chesapeake operates an early-season AX School open to all. Check out our schedule and come join in the fun while safely driving your car the spirited way it was meant to be driven!

NEW PCA MEMBERS receive ONE Free Autocross entry as part of their membership.
