August 26 CC48

Date:  August 26, 2017        Location:  Linganore Winery  Mt. Airy, MD

CC48 Schedule

The Chesapeake Region invites all PCA members to attend the 48th Chesapeake Challenge, the oldest running PCA multi-event day. This year we are going to the Liganore Winery in Mt. Airy, MD. In 1972, amidst rolling hills, dairy cows, and cornfields, a small vineyard was planted in the fertile soils of an old dairy farm. That one small vineyard has proudly become Linganore Winecellars.

This year, Chesapeake Region PCA is pleased to host Cole Scrogham, as a guest. Mr. Scrogham spent most of his life developing and managing teams of talented people, to help them achieve their goals. In his career he created management structures around small teams, such as GB Autosport, Dempsey/Del Piero Racing, and Synergy Racing. Additionally, Mr. Scrogham has Intimate knowledge of the Porsche brand, is an experienced track test driver, and author of numerous titles including Porsche 356 Carrera, The New Leader, Porsche 911 Engine Assembly Handbook.

We are also pleased to announce that we’ll have Boy Scout Troop 2017, to whom we donated the autocross trailer, as special guests at the Chesapeake Challenge. They will participate in the Concours as guest judges.  We will also help them complete some requirements for their Automotive Merit Badge. We hope this will be a nice way to encourage a new generation to experience the joys of sports cars and for our members to get to know some outstanding young people.  When you come to the Challenge, please introduce yourself to the Scouts, and show them your special Porsche!  Majestically built into a lush hillside on a 230-acre estate with 70 acres of vineyards, Linganore Winecellars features rustic yet sophisticated indoor event facilities as well as scenic outdoor event facilities that will suit anyone’s style.

Saturday will open with a Concours d’Elegance consisting of Touring (judging of interior, exterior, engine and storage) and Street-Prepared categories (interior and exterior). Classes for both categories will be based on entries. In addition to class awards, there will be awards for Best of Street Class and Best of Concours/Touring Group. Both the Street and Touring Categories will be eligible for People’s Choice Award.

Linganore Winery is a bit secluded and the closest restaurants are at least 20 minutes away, the winery will offer a lunch buffet (advanced registration and purchase is required), or if you choose, you may have lunch on your own. Shortly after lunch, a Gimmick Rally will leave from the winery leading you through the beautiful countryside. Later in the afternoon a Tech Quiz will take place at the winery with the final event of the weekend being an Awards Dinner Buffet in the Abisso Banquet Hall. This will be a Saturday not to miss!!

So come and join us for an event filled day of Porsches and People. All of your favorite cars and friends will be there, and so should you!

Space is limited and registration will close without exception on August 13, 2016.
